|Watching the Earth Melt|

Who am I, that He would choose to use me?

Some days, in my pride I think He is lucky. Other days, I think that He is being paid by someone to put up with me. But everyday I have to remind myself that neither are true. He chose me once and for all and with that act of love and redemption to my helpless state, He continues to choose me despite how good or not so good I’m actin that day.

I am so thankful for the opportunity to be used by God. I don’t deserve it. He doesn’t need me. But I am so glad He delights in our giftings and calls us according to His plan and purpose to bring His name to all nations.

This coming November, I get the joy of going to Thailand with a group of women. I would humbly ask for your prayers for this trip. I am completely thrilled to be a part of this spunky, all-female team. My first experience going on a short term trip was with an all-female trip. There is something special and deeply profound in the relationships that can be formed when you are with a group of just women. God has used every trip to open my eyes bigger to Him and every experience I am thankful for, whether all female trips or co-ed, He has used to break down misbeliefs in my own heart and show me more of Him. But I am tickled to death that He put this desire in my heart to see a group of women go and serve women in another culture.

What will we be doing?

Simply put….we are going to encourage local field partners as they are faithfully answering the call of God to serve where He has placed them. At the same time, seeing more and more how the one true God continually pursues His people, whether we are in Thailand or in the states. Thats it! That is our goal. This trip is not about us. We are going to love our brothers and sisters that are serving in a context that is much different than our own.

Their ministry consists of showing the love of Christ to the women, men and children in Thailand, specifically in the red light district. Where we are going is one of the most strategic places in the world for this type of ministry. No country is immune to the sex industry. No person is immune to the temptations of the industry. And those trapped in the district whether the entrapment is obvious or not, is a precious child of God. Their condition is no different than mine. Their hearts are no further from God than mine was when He called me to Himself. But we have the truth that no life is fulfilling outside the love of Christ. This is the message we are bringing. The hope of Christ.

Christ in us is all we have to offer.
“The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; He utters His voice,                                              the Earth melts.”                                                                                                               – Psalm 46:6
thailand 2

Will you join us in praying?

  • Pray for wisdom as we ask God what His plans are for this trip
  • Pray for team unity & for deep and authentic relationships to form
  • Pray for the field partners- that they would see fruit in their faithfulness and feel the love of Christ poured out over them
  • Most of all- pray for heart change not necessarily condition change. We are not going with the goal of removing them from the district. We are going with the prayer that the Spirit will move their hearts from death to life.
  • Pray for the logistics and funding, that each team member will trust God through the process and that He will break down areas where we are leaning on ourselves and not Him.

I look forward in eager anticipation of getting to share what we witness God doing in the lives of the women & children that we meet during our time. Thank you for being a part of this trip by being faithful and covering us every step of the way through prayer.

Camp Aunt Jilly |2014|

I’ve waited all year for Camp Aunt Jilly. This was a weekend that was thrown out at first as just a fun idea, but that fun idea just blossomed in my heart as the perfect time for me to spend with my only nephew.

I sometimes go overboard with ideas, but I just couldn’t stop pinning. One day at work, Emerson’s camp romper came in the mail and as I was showing one of my co-workers, she said “is he into this?”. He’s 1, mind you. So I giggled knowing she wasn’t serious, and said no, but he will be one day! Then I just truthfully told her, “loving Emerson, is just one more big way of me loving my sister”. By loving her child like he was my own, planning time to spend with him, rejoicing with her in the exciting times and giving her a hug when its hard being a mom… I am loving her. I’m not always good at it, but I am thankful for Emerson, because he gave me one more (REALLY big and really cute) reason to love my sister.

What a crazy, and in many ways unexpected weekend Camp AJ was. Here’s just a glimpse into the festivities of camp.

Emerson Grey- sweet boy. I LOVED our weekend together. I pray it is the first of many Camp AJ’s. You were so snuggly, and playful. Easily entertained by Winnie the Pooh & Elmo. You didn’t want to be put down for a second… but I didn’t mind 🙂 . You had a massive day of blowouts, which included one explosion landing on my arm (ask your mother, she will remember). You had your first taste of cheesecake. And the highlight of the weekend was your duck face. You constantly practiced your duck face 🙂 Love you, E.

Here’s to the New Year- a glance at the old [2013]

I get so much joy looking through these pictures. If 2013 was this awesome.. I can’t wait to see what 2014 has planned. I eagerly await many more memories with each of these sweet faces. Here’s to the New Year.

Ole (young) Pop!

For the past 25 years, October 4th has never been”my” day… it’s always “our day”. I love this day. Almost as much as I love my dad.

Let me tell you…

My dad is gentle but the strongest man I know. The smartest person, but in the most approachable way and constantly teaching me something new. The corniest and most clever man I have ever met. And a heart of gold that never stops loving his family.

I am grateful and so proud of the work he is doing overseas not only to protect us but to make a difference. He shows me how to push myself and never stop learning by doing the same thing himself. I can’t wait for the day when his feet are on American soil again but until then I am thankful for the work he is doing. Knowing that men like my dad are out there doing every thing they can to make our world a better and safer place, brings me comfort.

I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for my dad. Being apart on our birthday is never easy, but I know that we would both rather be together!

A glimpse into who my dad is:

Throwback of one of my favorite pictures!

Thank you for sharing your life of adventure!

Love this goofy man!

Words can’t come even close to tell you how much I love, respect, and admire you. I am truly blessed to be your daughter and so thankful to share our birthday together! I wish I could be with you today, but can’t wait for our delayed celebration in a few weeks 🙂 . Thank you for being my dad and loving me unconditionally. Happy Birthday ya old man!! I love you!

Little Red’s Birthday- Cheers Momma!

Today is the day… Little Red’s Birthday. For anyone who knows me, knows how much I love my momma. I am thankful for another year God has granted me with my Mom and pray that I have many many more. There is no one I would rather eat biscuits & honey butter with, go antique shopping, or watch gameshows than my sweet momma.

She still makes me grin ear to ear!

She still makes me grin ear to ear!

I have so many memories that I treasure about my mom but just to name a few:

– sitting on the front porch swing reading American Girl Doll

– watching Shirley Temple reruns on Sunday mornings

– waking up and hearing her play the piano before church

– wine tasting in South GA

– endless advice that usually ended with “kill them with kindness” or “you just be Jillian” 🙂

– laugh attacks at the most inappropriate times (typically in church)

– rolling my hair in sponge rollers as a reward

– being there every single time I needed her.. she’s always there.

Mom- I am so blessed to have you as my mom. Know that I treasure you and I hope that someday I can be half the mom you are. I am thankful for every day, prayer, tear, laugh, memory, and smile you bring my life! I hope you have a wonderful day and I can’t wait to hug you soon! Love you same 🙂

{1 week ago}

1 week ago today, our family changed forever. Our family changed for the better. This precious baby boy is 1 week old today.

1 week old

April 12, 2013… Emerson Grey entered this world. This world for our family became fuller, filled with more joy than our family has seen in a long time. 2012 was a rough year- a year full of things I’d rather not experience again. But with 2012 ending- 2013 began and I had HIGH hopes for 2013. The birth of this sweet boy has far surpassed anything I could have dream, prayed, or asked for in 2013. The birth of Emerson made everything our family went through in 2012 worth it. He is worth it. He is such a blessing and proof of God’s faithfulness in Emily’s life and our family. This little boy was so prayed for every step of the way, and through every hurdle, God brought him here safely. He didn’t have to bring Emerson here safely, or at all, but He did. I know He did because He has great plans for this little boy and his mama. God knew Emerson would be worth it.

My sister, Emily (Emerson’s hip mom), had a rough pregnancy, full of highs and lows. I have never seen someone persevere like she did, maybe ever in my life.  This is a girl that went from running at the sight of needles and doctors, to telling every doctor & nurse at the hospital how her labor was about to go down. The nurses were telling her she had a 15 hour labor ahead of her, she told them he’d be out by lunch- Emerson was born at 12:46 pm. Sometimes, mommas really do know best.

Lil Mama- you took this pregnancy & labor like a champ. Em- you are braver, stronger, & smarter than you ever give yourself credit for. Emerson is so lucky to have you as his momma, best friend, biggest fan & role model. I’ve never been more proud of you.

And Pop & Lollie might be a little smitten by Emerson..

I might be a tiny bit smitten too…

How could we not be overjoyed, smitten, beaming, glowing, grinning, cheesing, thrilled over this precious little boy??

He’s a keeper. Happy 1 week little buddy. Can’t wait for a million more. Love you forever and ever!
