On February 13th I decided I was not going to write a blog post on Valentine’s Day. Not because I am bitter or sad, solely because I just didn’t think I had anything to add to the overcommercialized holiday. Until February 14th, when the Lord completely challenged my heart and the way that I think of His love. What better day than to write about that than on Valentine’s Day. This morning I went to the Women’s Bible Study at my church. The lesson today came from the book of Haggai. Now I probably should have known where Haggai was in the Bible, but I have never heard a lesson taught from it much less where it was located in the scriptures. Humbling to go to the front to look it up as you sit with the wisest of the wise at your church (I’d say so). The overall message that the Lord showed me might not be obvious in the verses.
“Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Is it not as nothing in your eyes? Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the Lord. Be strong, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land, declares the Lord of hosts, according to the convenant that I made with you when you came out of Egypt. My Spirit remains in your midst. Fear not.” Haggai 2:4-5
Now there were many references made throughout scripture that came to the main conclusion but the premise was focused on these verses. The speaker challenged us to think that maybe God’s focus of the people rebuilding the temple was not on the physical building, but He was more concerned with their hearts. She asked, “Is that possible?” I’d say so.
So many times in my life when the circumstances aren’t looking how I think they should or how I originally thought the Lord was telling me they would, I doubt His presence and faithfulness in my life. He is reminding His people, remember “the covenant that I made with you”. What a sweet reminder today. Our heavenly Father loved us SO much that He sent His Son to die. He has promised us eternal life. He has washed us clean and is sanctifying us as we walk faithfully with Him. Praying that today and all the tomorrows I focus on His concern for my heart and not my physical circumstances.
Now, as perfectly as He always does, I also received an update today from Passion 2012. I bought the digital pass at the conference this year and every few days a new portion is released. Of course, today they released the video of Chris Tomlin’s “How Great is Our God- World Edition” video. There were many tears shed at Passion, but an ocean worth was shed during this time of worship. What a powerful way to worship a God who is all-powerful, mighty, and rich in love. An experience like no other to sing along side brothers and sisters from around the world. This version is the not as fancy but equally as good one from Youtube (didn’t want to post one that you need to pay for!) Enjoy. How great is our God!? Praying that you feel His love today.
